Consecrate to God
March 22, 2026

Exodus 13:1-2; 11-16
In the midst of the long-awaited departure from Egypt and the beginning of the long journey to the promised land, the people of Israel are given instructions to consecrate every firstborn male to the Lord. The redemption of Israel, God's first born, is to be remembered every time a family welcomes their first child. This anticipates the redemption of the world through the sacrifice of Christ—the first born of creation. The right response to this is continual remembrance and offering up our first and best to the Lord who redeems us.
